THE CAJUN RIDES THE RIM AT OUTLAW MOTORSPORTS PARK FOR ANOTHER PODIUM RUN DURING THE ASCS SIZZLIN’ SUMMER SPEEDWEEK

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA (June 20, 2014) – The JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team headed to Outlaw Motorsports Park for the fourth night of racing action in the 2014 Bob Westphal Memorial Cup ASCS National Tour Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek series. On this night, there were 33 sprint cars ready to roar around the 3/8 mile oval in hopes of capturing the top spot when all 30-laps were completed in the feature event. Jason and the crew prepped the Waco Metal/Fischer Body Shop #41 Maxim for another competitive night of racing action.

He rolled his Weld Racing wheels out onto the track in the fourth heat race and was ready to go racing from the inside of row three. Outside front row starter Jeff Swindell jumped into the early lead and was showing the way. But, a little further back Jason had his Hoosier Racing Tires churning as he was surging forward and making up ground around the racy oval. When Swindell took the checkers, Jason laid claim to the runner-up spot and advanced directly to the 30-lap feature event for the fourth straight night.

With his second place finish in qualifying action and his accumulated passing points combined, the Eunice, Louisiana speedster was locked into the redraw and hoping for some continued good luck. When the redraw was completed, he would start the Valvoline/Jonestown KOA Maxim from the sixth position with Christopher Bell to the inside in row three. When the racing got up to speed under the green, the action was fast and furious throughout the field. As the laps clicked by, the cushion pushed closer and closer to the wall. Soon the yellow and red flags were getting a lot of activity as the racing was interrupted multiple times for drivers who slapped the outside retaining wall and disabled their racing machines. The Cajun was cruising as he made his way into the top five by lap 13 and on one of the later restarts charged into the third spot with his eyes focused forward through the shield of his Arai Helmet on gaining the next position. Tony Bruce, Jr. stole the lead from Brad Loyet late in the race as he hugged the bottom of the track where no one else was running with Jason running a close third behind those two. The top three would finish in that same running order as the Ragin’ Cajun took the bottom step of the podium with his show position finish. After the wild night of racing Jason stated, “That was just a good race. My Stenhouse Jr. Racing guys did a good job.” He continued, “We have been really tight here lately, so we decided to loosen it up tonight and were close to banging off the wall. But, we have been very consistent throughout Speedweek and we look to continue that moving forward.” With one night of racing remaining, Jason leads the 2014 Speedweek standings as the ASCS high speed show moves to Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on Saturday night.
