PODIUM IN PIGEON HILLS: CARSON MACEDO DRIVES FORWARD IN THE GETTYSBURG CLASH AT LINCOLN SPEEDWAY TO CAPTURE A THIRD PLACE FINISH TO KICK OFF THE SPRING SWING THROUGH PENNSYLVANIA

ABBOTTSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA (May 11, 2022) – Carson Macedo and the JJR #41 team made their way to the Keystone State of Pennsylvania for the first time in 2022 as the GPS navigated them into the Pigeon Hills of Adams County to the famous Lincoln Speedway. This fast and racy 3/8-mile, high-banked clay oval is celebrating its’ 60th year of professional auto racing and was excited to present the Duramax Drydene Gettysburg Clash on Wednesday evening. This mid-week showdown continues to grow in popularity as it welcomes the traveling tour of WoO stars back to Pennsylvania each season to compete against the always formidable PA Posse. As the throngs of fans made their way into the speedway, the teams were busy preparing their entries for the evening of racing in the pit area overlooking the backstretch and turn two. There were a whopping 55 teams ready to put on a show for the fans in the packed grandstands at Lincoln Speedway.

After heat in the engines and hot laps concluded, it was time for each driver to showcase their speed in My Place Hotels Qualifying. Because of the number of teams the field was split into two separate groups for qualifying with two driver’s laps being timed on the track at the same time. Each driver would each get two laps against the clock with their best lap representing them for starting placement in the heat races. Philip Dietz, Clyde Knipp, and Nate Repetz were doing their thing to make sure the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Durst Inc./Xtreme Body and Paint #41 Maxim was ready to go for their driver. Carson climbed into his Fibreworks Composites seat and secured himself with his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. When Spencer Bayston and TJ Stutts finished their two laps, it was the Lemoore, California drivers turn. He rolled onto the track in turn three and pounded the accelerator. He took the green and the time was ticking. Carson was hard at work inside the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine. Carson was fast, but only recorded an average lap in 13.365 seconds the first go ‘round. He stayed focused the next time around, but this time turned in a much better lap at 13.141 seconds. That second lap ended up being fourth quick overall in Group A with Justin Peck in the Tom Buch #13 establishing the quickest lap of the night at 13.027 seconds.

There were four 8-lap heat races on the agenda this evening under the sunny and clear Pennsylvania skies with the competitors being aligned systematically by their quickest lap times in time trials. The top five finishers would advance into the feature event later in the evening with the winner and runner-up heading to the dash. The scoring system put Carson Macedo and the Boltz Family/Buckwalter Trucking/Larry Davis Farms #41 on the outside of the front row with David Gravel nestled into the pole position he earned. Hanover native Logan Schuchart and Gerard McIntyre made up row two, Mark Smith and Troy Wagaman were in row three, with Kasey Kahne, Alan Krimes, Brock Zearfoss, Dylan Norris and Tim Wagaman filling out the starting grid. The initial start was slowed with a yellow before a lap could be completed when Tim Wagaman came to a stop. When they restarted it was Gravel pedaling down to take sole possession of the top spot over Macedo who had Schuchart on his rear bumper heading into turn one. Gravel led the first lap over Macedo and Schuchart who were giving chase. The Connecticut racer started to stretch his lead over Macedo as Macedo also put some space between himself and Schuchart. David Gravel would not be denied as he raced to the heat race victory over Macedo as the top two earned spots in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. Logan Schuchart came home third followed by Brock Zearfoss and Gerard McIntyre who rounded out the top five.

Moving into the 6-lap DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash Carson headed to victory lane to meet with Hannah Rickards to test his luck at pulling a pill for his starting spot. He would be the second to last driver to pick, so the pickings would be slim. When he walked up there was a ‘5’ and a ‘7’ pill remaining and he selected the higher of the two. Anthony Macri and Justin Peck would start from the front row with Spencer Bayston and Rico Abreu in row two. Local favorite Jacob Allen was on the inside of row three beside 3-time World of Outlaws champion Brad Sweet with Carson Macedo sharing the last row with David Gravel. The goals was to try to pick up a row for the feature. When the green flag was unfurled Carson moved the Tarlton and Son/Meyer Constructors/Winters Performance Products #41 Maxim by Sweet into the sixth position. David Gravel followed suit and was in seventh and battling hard with Macedo for the better position. They were wheel-to-wheel entering turn one with Gravel to the extreme inside. They never made contact but Gravel spun in turn two to bring out the caution flag. They restarted with Macri maintaining the lead over Peck at the front of the pack. Anthony Macri went on to claim the dash win over Peck and Bayston with Abreu, Allen, Macedo, Gravel and Sweet completing the finishing order.

Carson accomplished his goal in the dash and picked up a row to start the $10,000-to-win 35-lap Duramax Drydene Gettysburg Clash feature at Lincoln Speedway from the row three in the sixth position. He would roll the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Team Jack Foundation/Greber Racing Components (GRC) #41 into his starting position beside Jacob Allen as the field aligned two-by-two for the start of the race. Like the heat race earlier in the evening, the opening lap was not scored when they got going initially due to a caution waving for Brent Marks who got spun and hit the inside wall on the entry to turn three setting up a complete restart. When they got back at it Anthony Macri took control of the top spot over Justin Peck with Carson Macedo running in the position he started. Justin Peck made the pass for the lead on Anthony Macri on lap 9 with Macedo battling for a spot in the top five with Rico Abreu. The driver of the forty-one maintained his sixth running position through lap 11 when a caution flag for Robbie Kendall was displayed regrouping the field. When the engines came to life again Carson used the restart to move by Abreu and begin his march forward. On lap 15, after another caution was thrown this time for James McFadden who was sitting sideways in the turn after battling with Freddie Rahmer who lost his brakes battling for the 13th position, Carson moved by Spencer Bayston into the fourth position in the running order. The next time around Lincoln he moved into the third spot as he moved by Anthony Macri as Spencer Bayston also passed the #39 of Macri. Justin Peck was still leading the pack but he had Jacob Allen right on his tail with Macedo coming in the distance. On lap 24, Jacob Allen worked his way by Peck as they navigated lap traffic with Macedo closing in on the front two drivers. He was narrowing the gap with each completed lap as they started to dwindle. A final caution flew on lap 30 for Sheldon Haudenschild and Buddy Kofoid who tangled in turn three and four which regrouped the field for the single file restart and dash to the checkers. Jacob Allen got the Shark Racing entry up to speed and was in control of the lead with Peck close behind. Carson did not get a good restart spinning the tires off turn four allowing Spencer Bayston to make the pass into the show position. Carson got his elbows up and came off turn two on the low side and used that position to drive under Bayston entering turn three to reclaim the third position coming off turn four. Jacob Allen went on to claim the very popular victory in front of the team’s hometown crowd with Justin Peck coming home second and Carson Macedo claiming the last step on the podium in the Duramax Drydene Gettysburg Clash. Another string run for the forty-one team!
