RUNNING FORWARD AT BRISTOL: SEIZING SOME EARLY PASSING OPPORTUNITIES AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY RESULTS IN A SEVENTH PLACE FINISH AND COLLECTS THE KSE HARD CHARGER HONORS FOR CARSON MACEDO

BRISTOL, TENNESSEE (April 30, 2022) – Following their fourth place finish on Friday night on Bristol’s high banks, Carson Macedo and the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 team were back in the infield pit area preparing the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) entry for the conclusion of the Bristol Bash. This is a place where luck and momentum merge together with courage and speed to produce wheel gripping action in Thunder Valley. The venue is spectacular to showcase the stars of the sport. There were 24 sprint teams again lined up and ready to go at Bristol Motor Speedway.

By the luck of the draw, the Lemoore, California racer would be the 16th car out for his two time trial laps in My Place Hotels Qualifying. The Tarlton and Son/Smith Titanium/Walker Performance Filtration #41 Maxim was waiting patiently in the staging area. With a tap on his rear nerf bar, Carson’s Kistler Racing Engines power came to life as he rolled up onto the banking and stomped the accelerator to build up his moment. He flew through the last set of turns and raced under the waving green flag. The seconds were ticking by as the talented driver was do his job from his office. The track was fast and he was up to the task turning in a lap of 13.795 seconds. He kept hustling and the next lap was slightly slower as it was recorded at 13.831 second. The better of his two circuits was only good enough for 15th quick overall on the night as quick time went to fellow Californian Rico Abreu at 13.517 seconds.

His time trial lap out him deep in the third of three 8-lap heat races that was just loaded with talent. Kerry Madsen and David Gravel would pace the field to the green from the front row with Sheldon Haudenschild and James McFadden in row two. Carson would be on the inside of row three aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Wilwood Racing/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads #41 Maxim as he rolled beside John Carney’s MVT sponsored #J2 with Brian Paulus and Jake Spoon in row four. When they green lights came on it was Kerry Madsen driving the Roth Motorsports #83JR into the lead over Gravel, with McFadden and Haudenschild just behind the top two leaders. Carson was running in the fifth position and was stalking the NOS Energy Drink #17 at speed with one lap in the books. On the next lap, when Haudenschild drifted high in turns 3 and 4, Carson turned the Albaugh #41 down at the apex of the turns and picked up the spot as they cruised down the frontstretch. Kerry Madsen never was challenged as he took the heat race win by 1.319 seconds over David Gravel. The top two were followed across the finish line by James McFadden and Carson Macedo with Sheldon Haudenschild rounding out the top five. John Carney came home sixth with Brian Paulus and Jake Spoon being scored in the last two positions.

Missing out on the dash, Carson and the JJR #41 team waited patiently for the 25-lap NOS Energy Drink Bristol Bash finale. While the speeds at this half-mile as impressive, it certainly is hard to pass cars. Not deterred, Carson climbed into his Fibreworks Composite safety seat with Sharp Advantage custom fitted inserts to prepare to compete. He would get started from the outside of row six from the 12th starting spot. Spencer Bayston and Friday night’s winner Logan Schuchart made up row one. Kyle Larson and Rico Abreu were in row two with David Gravel, Kerry Madsen, Donny Schatz, Jacob Allen, James McFadden and Anthony Macri pacing behind. Spencer Bayston drove the CJB #5 into the lead over Schuchart to open the race. But it was Carson Macedo who had the Durst Inc./Larry David Farms/Team Jack Foundation #41 on the move. He stuck the car entering turn one and turned under Macri, Allen, McFadden and Aaron Reutzel to move into the eighth position after the first lap. He then drove around Donny Schatz coming off turn two into the seventh spot. For the next 23 laps the running order was pretty stable throughout the field with very little passing. Kyle Larson had worked his way by Schuchart though into the runner-up position behind Bayston when the yellow flag waved on the very last lap for a slowing James McFadden. That meant a green-white-checkered restart for Bayston who was following by Larson, Schuchart, Abreu, Gravel, Madsen and Macedo. When they went back to green flag racing Larson attempted a slide job entering turn three as he and Bayston were side-by-side at the flagstand. Bayston did not back down and Larson raced him cleanly. Bayston maintained the lead and raced under the checkered flag to claim the $25,000 winner’s check and the sword over Larson, Schuchart, Abreu, and Gravel. Carson brought the Albaugh #41 home seventh as he crossed the finish line just behind Kerry Madsen. By virtue of him passing five cars and finishing seventh he earned the KSE Hard Charger honors for the second time this season. Another great, and consistent, run for the driver of the forty-one!
