ENTERTAINING NEAR THE STEEL CITY: A SPEEDY AND COMPETITIVE NIGHT OF ACTION FOR MACEDO AND THE JJR #41 TEAM AT LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY IN THE COMMONWEALTH CLASH RESULTS IN A SIXTH PLACE FINSH

SARVER, PENNSYLVANIA (September 25, 2021) – Following the completion of the racing action at Eldora Speedway on Friday night, where Carson Macedo finished in the 9th position, the team loaded up and continued to head eastward as they were pointed towards Butler County, Pennsylvania to race at Lernerville Speedway in the Commonwealth Clash. Lernerville Speedway is located north of Pittsburgh, just off North Pike Road in the rural town of Sarver.  The racing at the 4/10-mile, high banked clay oval is always good and only gets better when the Greatest Show on Dirt brings their traveling caravan of stars into town. The local drivers here have always been tough and provided stiff competition, which raises the bar when the outsiders come to town. On Saturday night, there were 34 teams parked in the pit area situated outside of turns three and four and ready to get rolling.

When each of the sets for hot laps were completed, it was time for each driver to race against the clock in Slick Woody’s Qualifying. Carson would hop into the cockpit of The Boyd Family/RaceDiecast.com/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim and head to the staging area just off turn four. He pulled on his K1 Race Gear gloves and prepared for some high speed action. The Lemoore, California racer would be the eleventh driver out on the track for his two laps at speed. With a tap on his rear nerf bar, his Kistler Engines power came alive. Carson pedaled down and streaked by the waving green flag as the clock started to tick. Lernerville can be tricky as there are no walls around most of the track, and circling it can be tough if you do not have the car set up correctly. Macedo was up on the wheel using his KSE Racing Products to help steer his way around the racing surface. When he completed his first circuit the clock read 12.571 seconds. Hammer down, Carson kept his Maxim Racing chassis pointed in the right direction as he was looking to improve the next time around. With his Hoosier Racing Tires churning into the surface, Carson raced off turn four and passed the finish line in 12.465 seconds. The quicker of his two speed attempted resulted in him being second quick overall when time trials ended. David Gravel secured the quickest lap of the night at 12.416 seconds, just 0.049 seconds faster than Macedo.

Carson’s time trial result positioned him in the lineup for the second of four 8-lap Drydene Heat Races. Macedo would line the Team Jack Foundation/Mark Burch Motorsports/Jansen Transportation #41 Maxim up on the inside of the front row with Wayne Johnson sharing the speed row with him. Lining up behind the pacesetters, were fellow WoO competitors Kasey Kahne and Jacob Allen, with the remainder of the field being occupied by Brandon Spithaler, Jack Sodeman, Darin Gallagher, Dan Kuriger, and Matt Farnham. When the field got the green flag they went from pacing to racing and it was Wayne Johnson out drag racing Carson Macedo to the lead heading into the first set of turns. Macedo was stuck to Johnson’s rear nerf bar looking for an opportunity to take back the top spot. But Wayne Johnson would have none of it as he was mastering the tour around Lernerville. Wayne Johnson claimed the heat race victory by 0.747 seconds as Carson kept his elbows up to come home second. Jacob Allen showed some speed in his Shark Racing #1a to finish third ahead of Kasey Kahne and Brandon Spithaler who rounded out the top five.

Carson’s runner-up finish in his heat race earned his a spot in the 6-lap DirtVision Fast Pass Dash for the 45th time in World of Outlaws (WoO) competition this season. The Lemoore, California driver headed to the frontstretch to test his luck in the draw. He would be the sixth of eight drivers to pull his number. When he looked at the small circular disc it had an ‘8’ printed on it. Wayne Johnson and David Gravel pulled to the two highest numbers to position themselves on the front row. Donny Schatz and Brock Zearfoss were settled into row two. Sheldon Haudenschild and Brad Sweet owned row three. And, James McFadden shared the final row at the start with Carson Macedo. When they went racing it was Gravel to the lead over Johnson. These talented stars were showing their speed and courage competing for their best finish as the finishing order establishes the starting grid for the first four rows of the feature. David Gravel was relentless and would not be denied as he took the win over Johnson and Donny Schatz with Sweet, Zearfoss, McFadden, Haudenschild and Macedo completing the finishing order.

With all of the qualifying action behind the teams, the 25-car field, with Darin Gallagher electing to use a provisional, was now locked and loaded for the 35-lap World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Commonwealth Clash feature. The grandstands were brimming with fans who had spent their hard earned money to see the best in the business put on an entertaining show . . . and, the talented field of drivers were about to fulfill their part of the deal. Carson Macedo would start the race from the eighth starting spot aboard the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Waco Metal/AutoMeter #41. The talented California driver was looking to shine in the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 entry with a solid effort throughout the event. As the air horns sounded, he climbed into his Fibreworks Composites seat with a Sharp Advantage custom fitted insert as he pulled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts tight.

With all of the engines fired the field was set and ready to roll. David Gravel and Wayne Johnson slowly brought the field to the chalk stripe with Johnson driving into the top spot on the opening lap with the Watertown, Connecticut racer chasing the Oklahoma native. Carson Macedo displayed his speed early as he gained two spots early running in the sixth position. On lap 2, the engines silenced when the red flag came out for Marcus Dumesny who flipped over the banking in turn two. When the field went back to racing it was again Wayne Johnson controlling the lead over David Gravel with Brad Sweet in the mix as Donny Schatz, James McFadden, Carson Macedo, and Sheldon Haudenschild were battling. In fact, Sheldon Haudenschild and Carson Macedo were waging a war for the sixth spot. That war continued for many laps throughout the middle stages of the race with some of the back and forth passing getting tight. The racing at the front was getting interesting too as Brad Sweet passed David Gravel for the runner-up position and was hungry for the lead. He would make the pass on Wayne Johnson for the lead on lap 13, with David Gravel scooting by Johnson into the second spot. Sweet would hold the lead through lap 22 when a yellow flag was thrown for AJ Flick who had rear end issues and stopped on top of the banking in turn one. It was Sweet leading Gravel with Schatz, McFadden, Haudenschild and Macedo lined up behind as they came back to the green flag. David Gravel drove the Big Game Motorsports #2 into the top spot on the restart with Sweet now chasing the black and orange speedster. Gravel would not be denied as he collected his tenth WoO victory of the season, The Connecticut born native shared the podium with Brad Sweet and Donny Schatz as James McFadden and Sheldon Haudenschild completed the top five. Carson Macedo brought the JJR #41 Maxim Racing entry home sixth after a hard fought battle throughout the night. Another good run for the forty-one!
