GETTING CHARGED AT STOCKTON: JASON AND THE TEAM HAVE A STRONG RUN AT THE STOCKTON DIRT TRACK AS THEY CROSS THE FINISH LINE WITH A SIXTH PLACE FINISH IN THE FVP PLATINUM BATTERY WESTERN SPRING SHOOTOUT

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (March 17, 2018) – Mother Nature sure hasn’t played nice with the schedule lately, but on St. Patrick’s Day at the Stockton Dirt Track a little luck with the weather went their way and the racers were ready to race in the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout. There were 39 cars entered to race and Jason and the JJR #41 team were looking to drive results aboard their Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Wilwood Disc Brakes #41 Maxim.

Scheduled to go out 13th in Flight A, the Eunice, Louisiana speedster pushed off and took the green to start the clock. He has his Hoosier Racing Tires rolling and the first time around the dirt oval stopped the watch at 13.527 seconds. He stayed on the hammer and his Kistler Engines power plant was delivering as expected. This time around he improved his time to 13.255 seconds, which was 8th quick overall in Flight A.

Earning the fourth starting spot in the second heat race, Jason lined up in row two beside Tim Shaffer with California native Brad Sweet and Oklahoma native Shane Stewart on the front row. Sweet jumped into the early lead over Stewart and Jason powered his way into the show position in the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/K&N Filters #41 with the balance of the field giving chase. With only 5 automatic transfer spots available you have to be up on the wheel each and every lap. Sweet would take the checkers after 8 laps with Stewart coming home second and Jason in third while Willie Croft and Shaffer rounding out the top five.

The 30-lap featured lied ahead as the field was set for the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shoot at Stockton. The Ragin’ Cajun would start from the eleventh spot in the AutoMeter/Schoenfeld Headers #41 Maxim Racing entry as he shared the row with Dominic Scelzi. Polesitter Cory Eliason and Brian Brown brought the field to the green as The Greatest Show on Dirt with the World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series stars were kicking the dirt up at the Stockton Dirt Track. Oh boy, it was good to be racing again – Outlaw style! The track was rough which brings out the technical talents of all of these speed chauffeurs, but it also tests each team’s equipment. Some early cautions after the first third of the race relegated some of the field to the pit area. Jason excels on these types of tracks and was comfortably situated in the top ten at this stage of the race. Californian Cory Eliason was showing the way at the front of the pack as Jason manhandled his forty-one forward. Eliason would lead wire-to-wire to take the victory over Ian Madsen, Shane Stewart and Carson Macedo with Tim Keading rounding out the top five. Jason came home with a solid sixth place finish as he was patient and persistent each lap around the Stockton Dirt Track.
