SPINNING THE WHEEL IN LAS VEGAS: RAGIN’ CAJUN KICKS OFF FVP OUTLAW SHOWDOWN AT THE DIRT TRACK AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY WITH A SIXTH PLACE RUN AROUND THE SIN CITY OVAL ON THE FIRST OF TWO NIGHTS OF RACING

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (February 28, 2018) – After a long break in racing action after the DIRTcar Nationals due to weather last weekend in Texas, Jason and the JJR #41 team trucked into Las Vegas for two consecutive nights of racing in the FVP Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. They weren’t the only ones as there were 44 quality teams registered to entertain the packed house of fans in a city known for providing great entertainment.

The large field was split into two groups for time trials, Flight A qualifying and Flight B qualifying, with Jason scheduled to go out third in Flight B aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution #41 Maxim. He was buckled into his Fibreworks Composites custom fitted seat and waiting patiently in the staging lane. With a tap on the rear nerf bar of the forty-one his Kistler Racing Engine came to life as he pedaled down to build his speed. He took the green and bolted around the track stopping the clock at 14.136 seconds. Keeping his momentum moving forward he laid another good lap at 14.111 seconds that kept him at the top of the Flight B qualifying charts until the last guy out, Brian Brown, beat his time by .005 seconds. Jason ended up second quick overall in his qualifying group.

His Fischer Body Shop paint was glistening under the Sin City facility’s lights as he rolled into his pole position starting spot for the fourth 8-lap heat race. Californian, Cory Eliason, was to his outside on the front row with a formidable group of competitors behind them with Brad Sweet, Jacob Allen, David Gravel, Rico Abreu, Brooke Tatnell, Kyle Hirst, DJ Netto, Matthew Moles and Randy Waitman rounding out the field. When the green flag waved Jason’s Hoosier Racing Tires dug in as he vaulted into the lead heading into turn one with Eliason close behind. The Eunice, Louisiana native never looked back leading the event wire-to-wire to take the win over Eliason by just under 1.5 seconds as Sweet, Gravel and Abreu locked into the final transfer positions.

Qualifying for his third straight Sears Craftsman Dash, Jason used his MPI steering wheel to maneuver into his fifth starting position beside Cory Eliason for the 6-lap sprint race with the finishing order aligning the first four rows for the feature finale. Sheldon Haudenschild and Brian Brown were in row one with Jason Meyers and Tim Shaffer in row two, as Logan Schuchart and Ian Madsen finishing the starting grid in row four. Brown would take the win over Haudenschild with Meyers, Shaffer, Eliason and Schuchart crossing the stripe behind as Jason came home seventh and Madsen finishing eighth.

As the night rolled on deep into the dark hours in the desert, the 30-lap feature event loomed in the distant. The air horn sounded and the stars of the sprint car world climbed aboard their speed machines and lined up in their famous four-abreast salute to the fans under the Las Vegas skies. Jason and the JJR crew were ready to get rolling as Brian Brown and Sheldon Haudenschild brought the field to the green flag and filled the air with the sweet sound of sprint cars. Brown led early as Jason wheeled the Jonestown KOA/Pro Powder Coating (PPC) #41 mid-pack. Sheldon Haudenschild inherited the lead when Brown encountered tire issues as Jason battled just inside the top ten with Donny Schatz. Haudenschild would hold the point position and on lap 20 the action slowed as Logan Schuchart bent his front axle and came to a stop after contact with one of the inside tires. Under yellow, Jason spun to avoid Schuchart and was placed back into his position in the running order. Haudenschild would go on to collect the win over Schatz, Brad Sweet and Tim Shaffer with David Gravel rounding out the top five. Jason drove the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 to a sixth place finish to end the first night of racing action in the FVP Outlaw Showdown.
