LOUISIANAN STANDS TALL ON THE PODIUM IN WASHINGTON WITH STEWART AND HAUDENSCHILD AFTER HIS SECOND PLACE RUN IN THE OUTLAW ENERGY SHOWDOWN AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

ALGER, WASHINGTON (September 1, 2017) – Ahhhhh the West Coast. Better yet, the beautiful Pacific Northwest. That is where Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing team trucked the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 Maxim to with racing kicking off at Skagit Speedway on Friday night in the first of two nights of racing around the always fast, always fun 3/10-mile oval. The track is nestled in the northwest corner of the state of Washington amongst mature trees and ripe blackberry bushes all around. There were 25 cars entered for the first night of the Outlaw Energy Showdown at Skagit Speedway and the fans filled the stands that encompass the track eager to see the stars of the sport wheel their machines around their home track.

Jason would roll of 17th for his two time trial laps around the speedway. This Louisiana speedster doesn’t mess around when he is buckled into his Fibreworks Composites custom fitted seat and gripping onto his Max Papis Innovations (MPI) steering wheel. The Ragin’ Cajun stomped on the loud pedal as his Kistler Engines power came to life. He took the green and was a blur as he wisped through the turns and around the track. When he crossed the timing stripe the first time the clock read 11.184 seconds. He stayed on the accelerator and made another smooth lap in the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/Waco Metal #41 and this time pick up some speed and improved his time with an even faster lap at 11.108 seconds. His fastest lap was third quick overall on the night behind quick timer Shane Stewart and Daryn Pittman.

Starting on the pole of the third heat race, Philip, Jeff and Jakob turned the wrenches and had the always beautifully presented Fischer Body Shop/CCC forty-one entry prepared for action. Jason would share the front row with Brad Sweet, as Jason Sides and Jamie Veal comprised row two. Dominic Scelzi, Austen Wheatley, Clyde Knipp and Robbie Price rounded out the starting lineup for the 10-lap race. When the green flag was waving over the field, it was Jason Johnson taking the lead over Sweet and Sides. The three talented wheelman were making tracks and not looking back. Johnson took the heat race win by slightly more than one second over Sweet as the top two earned their way into the evening’s Craftsman Club Dash, with Sides, Veal, Scelzi and Price securing the remaining transfer positions to the A-Main.

Jason sat third in the pre-dash inversion order. When the six pill was pulled, he would end up starting from the outside of row two with Shane Stewart to his inside with Brad Sweet and Kraig Kinser on the front row and Daryn Pittman and Jac Haudenschild in row three. Eight laps was the scheduled distance of the Craftsman Club Dash as Jason flipped the shield down on his Shell Shock custom painted Bell Racing helmet and took his spot in row two. Sweet would jump into the lead followed by Kinser, Pittman, Stewart and Jason. They would stay that way until the checkers flew with the Cajun Sensation coming home fifth aboard the Jonestown KOA/K&N Filters #41 Maxim.

With the waves crashing not too far to the west in Samish Bay and the traffic cruising up and down Interstate 5 to kick off the Labor Day holiday weekend, Jason crawled into the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine ready to do battle for 30 laps at Steve Beitler’s Skagit Speedway. Pole sitter Brad Sweet seized the lead at the start and was showing the way over Pittman, and Stewart early on. Jason was right behind patiently, and meticulously, working his way around the demanding and fun 3/10-mile Skagit surface. On lap nine, Sweet would get into Austen Wheatley collecting Pittman and scattering the lead pack as they tried to avoid the accident scene. Jason was successful and would restart third as Shane Stewart inherited the lead with Jac Haudenschild in second. They got back going and after a few laps the yellow was shown again, this time for Taylor Malsam and Jason Solwold who got turned around while racing for position. Jason would restart third again, this time with Donny Schatz to his outside as Stewart and the Wild Child brought the field to the green. Stewart led Haudenschild as Jason was in third and looking for more. With seven laps to go, Jason made his way into the runner-up position and was now chasing Stewart for the lead. Stewart would collect the win as Jason brought the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Brown and Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS) #41 home second as Jac Haudenschild secured the final step on the podium. Donny Schatz finished fourth and Sheldon Haudenschild came home fifth to round out the top five. A great run for the forty-one and the JJR Marshall Racing team!
