JAXX CELEBRATES WITH HIS DAD UNDER THE FALLING CONFETTI IN VICTORY LANE AT RED RIVER VALLEY SPEEDWAY AS THE CAJUN LEADS WIRE-TO-WIRE TO COLLECT THE WIN IN THE DUEL IN THE DAKOTAS

WEST FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA (August 19, 2017) – This racing deal is never easy, especially when you are racing against the best in the business night in and night out on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tour. After loading up following their fifth place finish at River Cities Speedway on Friday night, Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing team headed the 80+ miles south to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo to race in the Gerdau Recycling Duel in the Dakotas. There were 31 competitors ready to roll in the pit area on a beautiful evening in the Northern tier.

A high pill was pulled which positioned the forty-one team to go out late for qualifying, 28th overall, so they just settled in and methodically prepared the Pro Powder Coating (PPC)/Valvoline/K&N Filters #41 Maxim. As Jeff Bingaman, one of the JJR Marshall Racing important crew members, always states, “It’s just a number.” As it turned out, the high number was a blessing as the track was heavy and the later number helped them take advantage of a track that got quicker throughout time trials. The Eunice, Louisiana native headed out onto the track and turned his first lap in 12.252 seconds. Not satisfied, he stayed on the ‘go fast’ button to the right and his Kistler Engines/Engler Machine and Tool/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads power did its’ job. His second lap came in at 12.075 seconds, which ended up third quick overall on the night at Red River Valley Speedway.

Earning the right to start from the pole in the third heat race aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Waco Metal #41, the Louisianan lined up beside a formidable foe, Brad Sweet, on the front row. Jason Sides and Clyde Knipp made up row two, with Terry McCarl and Jamie Veal in row three, as Tim Kaeding, Casey Mack, Dusty Zomer and Jackson Moffett rounded out the starting order for the heat race. When the green flag was unfurled, Jason wasted no time driving into the lead and setting the pace for the 8-lap event. Sweet by no means was going away, but the Ragin’ Cajun hit all of his marks and went on to take the win over Sweet, Sides, Knipp and McCarl with Veal locking down the last transfer position.

Making his way into his 38th Dash event of the year, an impressive 66.67% success rate, he would sit third in the pre-Dash inversion order. When the zero pill was pulled for the second night in a row the inside of row two would be where he would get started from in the Craftsman Club Dash beside Shane Stewart. Kraig Kinser and Thomas Kennedy would share the front row with Kerry Madsen and Brad Sweet holding down row three. When the green lights replaced the yellow lights, it was Kraig Kinser driving into the lead on the first of six laps with Jason close behind in second. They would stay that way for the duration of the race as Kinser took the Craftsman Club Dash win over Jason in the Jonestown KOA/MSD Performance Maxim as Shane Stewart came home in the show position with Kennedy, Sweet and Madsen rounded out the finishing order.

With the outside front row starting spot secure, Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing boys made their final adjustments to the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Winters Performance Products #41 for the 30-lap feature event. The track still had some moisture in it with some bumps to make the ride a little bit adventurous. Polesitter Kraig Kinser and Jason paced the field and brought them to the green flag in front of a packed house. It was Jason to the lead over Kinser on lap one with Shane Stewart close behind. A caution on lap four for Jamie Veal slowed the field. Jason led the field back to the green flag racing conditions, but it was quickly halted and replaced by a red flag when Dominic Scelzi and Brent Marks got upside down. After the clean-up was completed, they went back to racing and Stewart snuck under Kinser for the runner-up position. Jason had built a pretty good lead, but Stewart who broke set a new track record in time trials with a lap of 11.925 seconds, was closing the gap with each passing lap. Jason and the drivers giving chase were catching the back end of the field and now he had to navigate lapped traffic. The topside of the track was a bit rough, but there most certainly were multiple lanes to race in. Jason was relentless and stayed on the bottom to protect the lane as he went on to collect his fourth World of Outlaws win on the season, fifth overall including the SPEED SPORT World Challenge last Friday night at Knoxville Raceway, over Kerry Madsen, Stewart and Kinser with Donny Schatz coming home fifth to round out the top five.

The Cajun chauffeur was greeted in victory lane by his smiling JJR Marshall Racing crew and son Jaxx as the confetti started to fall with Jason holding his son and the checkered flag. After climbing out of his Fibreworks Composites custom fitted seat the happy winner explained, “I am proud of these guys as they never give up. During the ‘Month of Money’ the tracks got a little slick and we struggled a bit. But this is my type of race track – Cowboy Up!” He continued, “With the World of Outlaws, these guys are so tough night in and night out, so to win one of these races speaks magnitudes about this team.” He concluded his victory lane statements by saying, “It took a lot of patience tonight and a fast race car. When you get yourself in a position to start on the front row, everything has to go your way.” On this night, everything went their way as signified by the winner’s trophy. And, Jaxx got to celebrate with his Daddy in victory lane again as they won their third trophy (and race) in 8 calendar days. Family first as it always makes winning a race even sweeter. A great run for the forty-one as they capture the win at the Gerdau Recycling Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway!
