OH WHAT A NIGHT AT ATTICA RACEWAY PARK FOR JASON AND THE JJR MARSHALL RACING #41 TEAM AS THEIR ENTIRE NIGHT WAS UPSIDE DOWN FROM START TO FINISH ENDING WITH A 25TH PLACE RUN

ATTICA, OHIO (July 11, 2017) – For Jason and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competitors and teams it is an extremely busty portion of the schedule. As the team continues through what is known as the “Month of Money”, the 410 traveling circus stopped at Attica Raceway Park for the 29th running of the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic. This is a fan favorite event, as well as, one every driver wants to win. There was an impressive 58 cars lining the pit area located outside turns three and four. It was race day at Attica Raceway Park!

Jason would be the 7th car to push out in Flight B aboard the Custom Country Creations (CCC)/Kistler Engines #41 Maxim. He took the green flag and scooted around this big 1/3-mile oval. He stopped the clock the first time around in 13.135 seconds. He stayed on the hammer and pick up a few one hundredths of a second the next time around with a lap of 13.104 seconds, which put him second quick at the time. As he patiently waited for the remainder of the field to complete their laps, when the last qualifier out, Donny Schatz, took the checkers the Ragin’ Cajun’s time would be 11th quick in Flight B.

There were six heat races on tap for the night with Jason slated to start fourth in the fifth heat race. It was a doozy of a heat race with Sheldon Haudenschild and Kyle Larson on the front row and Donny Schatz on Jason’s inside in row two. That was not all as Brad Sweet was also part of the loaded heat race. When the green flag waved, Haudenschild drove into the lead as the top four were getting up to speed. Jason was racing hard into turn three on the first lap and hooked the cushion tumbling to a stop with damage to the wing, right front shock and dented tail tank. The JJR Marshall Racing crew went to work in the designated work area and was able to get him back out to take the green. With a wounded race car he made it to lap 3 before heading pit side to make the repairs correctly for the Last Chance Showdown (also known as the LCS or the B-Main).

He would line up in the sixth position with the Waco Metal/All Pro Heads #41 with the top six advancing to the Brad Doty Classic feature event. With the wave of the green flag, Jason moved into a transfer spot but the next time around in turns one and two he looped the forty-one on the Attica Raceway Park surface. Tagging the rear, restarting from the 14th starting position, he had his work cut out for him now. The yellow lights dimmed and the green light came on as racing got back up to speed when another yellow was thrown for a spinning Sammy Walsh on lap 3. Jason had already moved into the top ten and when they got back to racing he was on the move. He had his hands full but powered his way up to eighth before spinning again in turn two with Chris Andrews and Ryan Ruhl. This time he decided to head back to the trailer to evaluate his car for further damage caused earlier. They found it as they had to replace the steering box.

Electing to use his second provisional of the season, the team made their final adjustments to the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Schoenfeld Headers #41 in preparation for the running of the 40-lap 29th Annual Brad Doty Classic. After the four-wide salute to the fans with fireworks going off in the background it was time to go racing. Tim Shaffer jumped into the early lead as Sheldon Haudenschild gave chase. Meanwhile, Jason was on the move as he made his way into the top twenty relatively quickly and was running 19th before spinning again and softly rolling over on his top wing. He headed back to the pit area where he was scored with a 25th place finish. The race would continue with a few more yellow flag interruptions, but in the end David Gravel made a late race pass on Tim Shaffer to take the win as Shaffer came home second just ahead of Daryn Pittman, Brad Sweet and Rico Abreu. While not the night they had hoped for, and worked so hard for, Jason and the team will work hard preparing for three nights over at Eldora Speedway starting on Thursday evening.
