JOHNSON MOTORS TO A RESPECTABLE SIXTH PLACE FINISH ON NIGHT TWO OF THE FVP PLATINUM BATTERY SHOWDOWN AT CEDAR LAKE AFTER WINNING THE CRAFTSMAN CLUB DASH

NEW RICHMOND, WISCONSIN (July 8, 2017) – There were once again 33 cars at Cedar Lake Speedway for night number two of the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. After a blown right rear tire brought a strong run while running fifth to an abrupt halt the first night, Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing #41 team were pulled in their pit stall and ready to change their fortunes on this beautiful Wisconsin night in front of a packed house.

Brad Sweet was the first car out for his two laps as Jason sat inside the Waco Metal/Schoenfeld Headers #41 Maxim awaiting his shot at the 3/8-mile oval. When Logan Schuchart completed his laps, the Ragin’ Cajun rolled out onto the track to qualify. He pressed the accelerator as the Kistler Engines power came to life.  He raced into turn one and out of turn two looking to hit his marks perfectly. Moving through turns three and four cleanly he completed his first lap. Racing hard at speed he circled Cedar Lake the second time and tripped the timing light the final time. The quickest of his two laps came in at 12.688 seconds, which was 16th quick overall in qualifying.

When the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series heat race lineups were posted the forty-one would be starting on the outside of row two in the fourth heat race in the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/Factory Kahne Maxim. Shane Stewart would be sitting on the pole in the Larson Marks #2 with Jacob Allen flanking him to the right. Scott Bogucki was third as Logan Schuchart, Dominic Scelzi, Jason Sides and Jason Tostenson rounded out the starting order. Stewart blasted into the lead when the green flag waved as Jason powered around Allen into the runner-up spot. Stewart would go on to grab the heat race win over Johnson as those two drivers earned the right to advance on to the Craftsman Club Dash. Jacob Allen, Jason Sides and Scott Bogucki rounded out the top five to lock into the final transfer spots from the heat race to the feature event.

Making his way into the Craftsman Club Dash, Jason was sitting 8th in the pre-dash inversion lineup. When the eight pill was pulled for the inversion it put the Rocky Mount, Missouri resident on the pole for the 8-lap Dash event. He would share the front row with Mark Dobmeier as Daryn Pittman and Parker Price-Miller followed closely behind in row two. Shane Stewart, Kerry Madsen, Brad Sweet and Donny Schatz completed the starting order, and when the lights around the track turned green it was Johnson to the front aboard the Fischer Body Shop/FK Rod Ends #41. He was setting a rapid pace as Friday night’s winner, Kerry Madsen, roared from his sixth starting position into the runner-up position. The Ragin’ Cajun would collect the win followed across the finish line by Madsen, Pittman, Schatz, Sweet, Dobmeier and Stewart as Parker Price-Miller rounded out the finishing order.

The lineup was set. Twenty-four cars were set to go with the beautifully prepared Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Winters Performance #41 Maxim sitting on the front row. After the four-wide salute to the cheering fans and Johnny Gibson belted out his famous “You wanted the best, you go them four abreast . . .”, it was go time at Cedar Lake Speedway in the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout. The green flag waved and Jason drove into the top spot in the running order. A few early cautions bunched the field together but on each successive restart, it was the Ragin’ Cajun at the front of the field. He surrendered the lead to Kerry Madsen on lap 12 when Madsen saw an opening and took advantage of it to get by the forty-one. Jason was in a battle for position lap after lap, falling back as far as eighth before driving forward to earn a respectable sixth place finish. Madsen swept the weekend with his second straight win as he was followed by Sweet, Schatz, and Gravel with Jason Sides charging from his 16th starting spot to finish fifth. A good run for the Priority Aviation Services, LLC #41!
