A LITTLE CAROLINA BLUES WITH A 14TH PLACE FINISH AS THE OUTLAWS INVADE THE SOUTH FOR THE OUTLAW SHOWDOWN AT THE DIRT TRACK OF CHARLOTTE TO KICK OFF MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA (May 26, 2017) – The long, winding road of the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series led the teams from New Egypt after Wednesday night’s race to Concord, North Carolina to kick off the Memorial Day holiday weekend where we as a Nation get to express our honor and gratitude to those who are serving, have serve and to those that have lost their lives to protect our freedom.

It was a beautiful evening where 24 teams registered in the pit area that winds around outside of turn one and off turn two at this beautiful, red clay 4/10-mile facility that sits right across the street from Charlotte Motor Speedway where the Coca-Cola 600 will be run on Sunday night. Jason rolled out 15th for his time trial laps on a very quick surface. His first lap came in at 13.999 seconds, but he stayed on the hammer and improved the next time around in the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Brown & Miller Racing Solutions #41 Maxim with a lap of 13.795 seconds. His quickest lap positioned him ninth on the speed charts when all the engines silenced.

With three heat races scheduled for the competitors, Jason’s qualifying effort earned him a spot on the inside of row two in the third and final heat race. Donny Schatz and Daryn Pittman were on the front row and led the field to the green flag with Schatz gaining the top spot followed by Pittman and Cale Conley with Jason running fourth aboard the Kenny’s Components/MPI Innovations #41. Jason had his elbows up and got around Conley for the third position where he would finish behind Schatz and Pittman with Conley, Greg Wilson and Jason Sides rounding out the transfer positions for the heat race.

Jason and the team were trying to figure out what the best setup would be for the 30-lap feature event where they would start from the inside of row five from the ninth starting position. The double horn sounded throughout the pit area and it was time to g racing in front of the packed house at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. The pyrotechnics were in full display as the competitors paced in their traditional four-wide salute to the fans. The powered back into their two-by-two starting order and took the green with Brad Sweet jumping out into the lead in his NAPA #49. Jason was wheeling his Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/LogoDaddy Graphics #41 from the eighth position after lap one, but the racing was tight in the pack he was running in on the track. The racing was uninterrupted as Sweet led Logan Schuchart for the first 28 laps before surrendering the lead with two to go. Jason was working hard inside the cockpit of his Maxim from the comfort of his Fibreworks Composites custom fitted seat. He was battling for positions but was losing ground in the late going as the setup was going away. Schuchart would go on to take the victory, his third of the season, over Sweet and Daryn Pittman with Donny Schatz and 15th starting Greg Wilson rounding out the top five. Jason was able to salvage a 14th place finish at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on this night as the team built their notes for their return to the track in early November.
