2014 SEASON KICKS OFF WITH A SEVENTH PLACE RUN AT COCOPAH SPEEDWAY
SOMERTON, ARIZONA (February 28, 2014) – The 2014 ASCS National Tour racing season kicked off at Cocopah Speedway. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team had their beautifully prepared #41 Maxim in the pit area and were ready to go racing. They would get the opportunity to race early as they lined up from the outside of row three in the first heat race of the night in their Waco Metals/K&N Filters mount. When the green flagged waved, Jason powered up his Don Ott Racing Engine and surged forward from his sixth starting spot. When the first checkered flag of the season flew over the ASCS National Tour field, the Ragin’ Cajun was the first under the flag to take the heat race victory. After all of the qualifying was completed, he earned the FSR Radiator High Point Driver of the Night honors, but in the redraw an eight pill was drawn putting him on the outside of row four for the 25-lap feature. Not deterred, the defending champion buckled into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and went to work around the racy oval that he has found so much success on in the past. As the race got up to speed, the talented field of racers were putting on a show. With only one caution interrupting the high speed action, Jason was able to make his way as far up as the fifth position throughout the event. But, when the checkered flag fell over race winner Rico Abreu, the Cajun crossed the finished line with a seventh place finish to start the season. The team will be back in action at Cocopah Speedway on Saturday night for Round #2 of the Cocopah Cup Challenge.
