THE EUNICE, LOUISIANA BORN SPEEDSTER KEEPS FYLING IN THE PRIORITY AVIATION SERVICES #41 AT ELDORA SPEEDWAY IN THE #LETSRACETWO WEEKEND AS HE COLLECTS ANOTHER FIFTH-PLACE FINISH

ROSSBURG, OHIO (May 13, 2017) – There were 29 cars back at Eldora Speedway for the second of two nights of the #LetsRaceTwo weekend with the USAC Sprint Cars at the high-speed oval in western Ohio. Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing #41 team had the Priority Aviation Services/Maxim Racing machine sitting on the tarmac, just to the right of the media center in the infield, ready to take flight. Crew Chief Philip Dietz, Jeff Bingaman and Jakob Weaver checked all the systems and were cleared for takeoff.

After hot laps and the opening ceremonies were completed, Cole Duncan got time trials kicked off in his #12N. Jason, who hails from Eunice, Louisiana, did not have long to wait as he was the seventh car scheduled to go out onto the high banks of Eldora Speedway. When Chad Kemenah completed his two laps, which were good ones, Jason rolled onto the speedway and took the green. He took off and was gaining momentum as he hit his stride. He stopped the clock the first time through the timing light at 13.084 seconds. He kept trucking in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/FK Rod Ends #41 and when he crossed under the checkers the stopwatch read 13.056 seconds, which was just .001 off Brad Sweet’s top time of 13.055 seconds at the time. Donny Schatz was the last driver out and when the 8-time World of Outlaws champion finished his last time trial lap, Jason’s quickest time was third best overall behind Tim Shaffer and Brad Sweet with Joey Saldana and Chad Kemenah rounding out the top five quick timers on this night.

Manning the pole position in the third heat race aboard the Priority Aviation Services, LLC Maxim, Jason shred the front row with Donny Schatz. The talented duo of Rico Abreu and Greg Wilson were in row two with Kraig Kinser and Cole Duncan in row three. The green flew over the 8-lap event and Jason’s Engler Machine & Tool/Kistler Engine came to life as he drove into the lead and led the field through turns one and two with Schatz and Abreu close behind. He kept his Hoosier Racing Tires rolling as the laps clicked by and led wire-to-wire to take the heat race victory over Schatz, Abreu, Kinser and Wilson with Duncan locking in the last transfer position.

Advancing into the Craftsman Club Dash for the fourth consecutive night, the Cajun Sensation would roll off from the outside of row two with Joey Saldana to the left of his Schoenfeld Header. Donny Schatz was on the pole with Sheldon Haudenschild to his outside as row three was made up of Brad Sweet and Tim Shaffer. Schatz would take command of the lead from the start as Jason got shuffled back to sixth. The field separated itself between positions as Schatz took the win with Haudenschild coming home in second as Sweet, Saldana, Shaffer and Johnson rounded out the field with their finishing positions setting the starting lineup for the first three rows of the A-Main feature event.

After Robert Ballou won the USAC feature in just his second night back from an 8-month recovery following an injury, the horn sounded for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series 30-lap feature. For the 24 cars that earned the right to race at speed in the finale it was go time at the ‘Big E’. Jason climbed into the cockpit and buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety harness and locked his MPI – Max Papis Innovations steering wheel into place. After a final word with the crew, he pulled on his Shell Shock custom painted Bell Racing helmet on and was ready to take flight. With fireworks lighting the sky the competitors saluted the diehard fans for their support before moving back into their two-by-two starting grid. When the green flag waved, Donny Schatz was showing the way as Jason quickly moved into the fifth position. He kept gaining speed and worked his way as high as third place in the early stages of the race. Schatz was in command at the front but Jason was in a fierce battle for position with Brad Sweet and Sheldon Haudenschild with Shane Stewart right behind charging into the fight from his tenth starting spot. These professionals were putting on a high-speed performance. A very impressive one to stay the least. Stewart’s night would come to an end after contacting the fourth turn wall while running fifth. Jason would restart on the inside of row three and hold his own over the last ten laps as he landed with a hard fought fifth-place finish behind race winner Schatz with Kemenah coming home in the runner-up position, Abreu in the show position and Brad Sweet in the fourth spot. Another strong run for the forty-one!
