ANOTHER STRONG RUN FOR THE CAJUN SENSATION IN THE KANSAS OUTLAW KLASSIC YIELDS ANOTHER QUICK TIME AND HEAT RACE WIN WITH A FOURTH-PLACE FINISH TO CAP OFF A SOLID WEEKEND

PARK CITY, KANSAS (May 6, 2017) – Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing #41 made the 4.5-hour tow from Sedalia to Park City, Kansas, for the running of the Kansas Outlaw Klassic on Saturday night at 81 Speedway. Jason has enjoyed a lot of success at this 3/8-mile track throughout his career and was looking to duplicate his winning ways along with 26 other competitors on this night against the always formidable World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series competitors.

The sun was shining bright and hot laps were completed as the cars and drivers started to stage for their two individual time trial laps. Jason had a good draw and would be the sixth car to hit the track aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/BMRS #41 Maxim. He flipped the shield down on his Bell Racing helmet as the push truck tapped his nerf bar to power up his Kistler Engine. He dropped his right foot and set sail in his always beautifully presented entry. His first lap was a good one at 13.751 seconds, but the determined Louisiana-born driver was not content. He kept his foot to the floor and was simply flying around the track’s surface. This time around, his lap of 13.523 seconds was good enough for Johnny Gibson to exclaim exuberantly, “Quuuuiiiiiiiiiccck Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimme for the Ragin’ Cajun!” much to the crowd’s delight.  His fast time would stand after everyone took their laps as he was the fastest timer for the second straight night and fifth time this season.

Jason would be starting on the pole again aboard the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/K&N Filters #41 in the first and fastest heat race with Kraig Kinser’s #11k to his outside. Close behind the lead tandem was David Gravel and Brad Sweet with Don Droud, Brady Bacon, Danny Lasoski, Shane Stewart and Jon Freeman rounding out the starting grid. When the yellow lights dimmed and the flagman waved the green flag, Jason powered his way from his pole position to take the lead. He would lead wire-to-wire in front of a great crowd filling the stands at 81 Speedway on the night promoted by SLS Promotions. The Cajun Sensation took the win over Kinser, Gravel, Sweet and Bacon with Shane Stewart racing his way to secure the sixth and final transfer position.

Earning his way into his 16th Dash of the season, a 72.73% success rate in events with a Dash on the season, Jason would be slated to start on the pole before the inversion pill being drawn. Much to the Rocky Mount residents chagrin, an inversion pill of six was pulled for the second night in a row putting him on the outside of row three with Jason Sides to his inside. Donny Schatz would man the pole position with Daryn Pittman sharing the front row with him. Kraig Kinser and Joey Saldana were in row two and it was “go time” in the Craftsman Club Dash. Schatz would lead all six laps to take the win, but Jason raced forward to finish fourth in his Fischer Body Shop/Kenny’s Components Maxim with Pittman and Kinser finishing in the positions in between as Saldana and Sides rounded out the finishing order.

As the car roll to a sop behind the JJR Marshall Racing transporter, Philip and Jason conferred back and forth as the team readied the car for the 30-lap feature event. They knew they had a fast race car, but also realized so did some of the competitors around them. The horn sounded and the drivers climbed into their offices ready to do battle at 81 Speedway in front of these terrific fans. Jason pulled the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Weld Racing #41 Maxim into the front row when they received the sign to go four wide to salute the fans. After realigning in the double file restart order, it was time to go racing to see who would win the Kansas Outlaw Klassic. When the green lights illuminated, it was Donny Schatz jumping into the lead as Jason powered his way into the show position. He was running solidly in the third position for the first 17 laps before he made the pass for the runner-up spot on lap 18. Just after securing the position the first and only caution of the night flew regrouping the field. Leader Donny Schatz chose the inside as the Cajun Sensation pulled into the outside starting spot. Schatz got a good start and Jason was embroiled in a three-way battle for the runner up position with Daryn Pittman and David Gravel. It was back-and-forth between the three talented speed chauffeurs as Schatz distanced his lead to eventually take the win ahead of Pittman and Gravel with Jason charging home with a fourth-place finish on the night. Another great run for the forty-one!
