A CAUTION FILLED NIGHT AT STOCKTON DIRT TRACK ENDS FOR THE RAGIN’ CAJUN UNDER RED FLAG CONDITIONS ON LAP 15 RESULTING IN AN 18TH PLACE FINISH IN THE FVP WESTERN SPRING SHOOTOUT

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (March 25, 2017) – After rain washed out Friday’s show at Stockton Dirt Track, Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing crew were ready to get back at it in the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/Crow Enterprizes #41 Maxim Racing machine. There were 39 cars at the 4/10-mile track located on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds and every driver wanted to be standing in victory lane at the end of the night.

The field was split in two groups, Flight A and Flight B, for time trials due to the size of the field. Jason was assigned to Flight B, and when his Kistler Engine came to life he was about to set sail. He dropped his right foot on the loud pedal and took off in the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/FK Rod Ends entry. He was fast and his initial time was right in the mix with the fastest times on the board. But on his second lap he stopped the clock at 13.189 seconds, which would end up third quick overall in Flight B and give him a front row starting spot in his heat race.

Lining the Fischer Body Shop/Pro Powder Coating (PPC) Maxim up on the outside of row one, beside polesitter Logan Schuchart, the Louisiana-born native was poised for a good run. He had a fast ride and was confident he was going to be the first to clean air. When the green flag dropped on the 8-lap event, Jason bolted into the lead and showed his speed as they roared down the front straightaway to complete lap one in front of the grandstands. He would lead the entire distance to bring home his fourth heat race win of the season ahead of Schuchart, Daryn Pittman, and Sheldon Haudenschild with Bud Kaeding locking down the fifth and final transfer spot in the heat race.

Earning his ninth Craftsman Club Dash spot of the year, an 81.82% success rate, he was ready to go for the fastest six laps in sprint car racing to determine the top eight starting spots for the feature. When the event got started, Jason Sides took command of the point position as Jason nestled in the top five in the running order. Sides would go on to take the win ahead of Brad Sweet, Shane Stewart and Donny Schatz with Jason finishing fifth as Logan Schuchart, David Gravel and Brian Brown rounded out the field.

The field was set and it was now time for the “Greatest Show on Dirt”, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, to give the fans in the stands what they all came to see – the best drivers in the world race around compete on their home turf. Jason rolled into his inside row three starting position in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/racediecast.com #41 with Logan Schuchart to his right. Polesitter Jason Sides led lap one with Brad Sweet right on his bumper and Jason running in the top five. Sweet would take over the lead on the second go ‘round as he wrestled the lead away from Sides. Several cautions interrupted the early going racing before a red flag was thrown for Kyle Hirst bringing action to a halt. Jason was competing from the fifth position and was right in the mix through the first half of the race. When racing resumed the powerful 410 sprint cars got up to speed and just after the competitors ran under the halfway-to-go crossed flags Jason flipped end-over-end going into turn three ending his strong run at Stockton. He was officially scored with an 18th place finish on the night, which was not indicative of the strong run the JJR Marshall Racing team had all night at the Stockton Dirt Track. Realizing that is a part of racing, the team will re-gather themselves and head to Placerville on Wednesday night where they ended the night in victory lane in 2016. Brad Sweet went on to take the win at Stockton Dirt Track over Donny Schatz, Shane Stewart and Brian Brown with David Gravel rounding out the top five.
