THE RAGIN’ CAJUN KICKS THE DUST UP IN THE 28TH ANNUAL OHIO LOGISTICS BRAD DOTY CLASSIC AS HE CHARGES FORWARD AT ATTICA RACEWAY PARK TO A RESPECTABLE 14TH PLACE FINISH

ATTICA, OHIO (July 12, 2016) – The Brad Doty Classic is a very special event on the JJR race schedule every year. The pit area was filled with 53 fierce competitors and the parking lots and grandstands were just flooded with eager race fans to see the best in the business race in the 28th Annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park.

Jason’s luck changed for the better with the pill draw as crew member, Jeff Bingaman, pulled the six pill, which allowed the JJR #41 team to hit the track fourth for time trials. Jason’s Kistler Engines power plant came to life as he pushed off in turn four. He built up speed and took the green for lap one. When he passed through the timing laser he stopped the clock at 13.229 seconds. Not satisfied, he stayed on the loud pedal and wheeled the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/BMRS #41 around for his second lap and this time he was quicker at 12.970 seconds. The faster of his two laps was tenth quick overall.

For the 10-lap heat race, Jason would start from the outside of row two beside Ohio racer Rob Chaney. Shawn Dancer and Cap Henry paced the field from the front row with Dancer taking the early lead. Jason got shuffled back to sixth and started to fight his way back as he moved into the fifth spot. Travis Philo was on the move and took the lead and the win ahead of Henry, Chaney and Dancer with Jason rounding out the top five. Since only three cars transferred directly to the feature, Jason would have to run the Last Chance Showdown (LCS).

Not deterred, the focused Louisiana driver climbed aboard the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Fischer Body Shop Maxim for the 12-lap showdown in Attica, Ohio. When the green flag waved, Dancer led early with Jason Sides pounding the low line and the Ragin’ Cajun pounding the cushion on the top side. Jason was making it work and moved into the runner-up position only to lose it late in the race to Sides as he finished third to advance into the 24 car field for the prestigious Brad Doty Classic.

As the half-moon shined brightly above the raceway, the feature field assembled around Attica Raceway Park. As they were firing their engines and getting aligned in their starting positions, there certainly were a lot of high powered teams loading up in the pit area and heading out early to beat the traffic as they failed to qualify. Jason rolled into his 21st starting position in the Kistler Engines/Waco Metal #41 Maxim Racing entry. The field was set as anticipation filled the air on this beautiful night in Ohio. When the green flag waved, Jason did not hesitate to get to work. He was up on the wheel and driving forward in his #41. This was no leisurely stroll, but rather a butt kicking type of speed and racing you commonly see at Attica Raceway Park. The first caution flag flew on lap three and he had already advanced five positions as he was running 16th. They restarted and another caution flew on lap six as Jason maintained the 16th position, but it certainly was not easy as the wheel-to-wheel action was just grueling and a true battle between these speed warriors. When the racing got back up to speed, everyone dropped to the low side to race near the tractor tires. Except for Jason as he elected the path least followed as he went to the very top of the raceway and was making progress – quickly. He moved up to 13th and was challenging for more. He was embroiled in a three wide battle for position and he was on the outside of the equation. You certainly did not know if they were going to stay on the track or end up going over the banking. At the midway point of the race, he was still running 13th but caught the lip of the building cushion in turn two losing a number of positions in the field. He fought his way back up and when Donny Schatz collected the checkered flag in the race ahead of Dale Blaney and Daryn Pittman, Jason brought the MVT/Valvoline #41 with a respectable 14th place finish on a very tough and competitive night of racing.
