NOT ONLY IS THE CHEESE GOOD IN WISCONSIN, SO WAS THE RAGIN’ CAJUN ON SATURDAY NIGHT AS HE RECOVERS AND ADDS SOME LOUISIANA SPICE WITH A FOURTH PLACE FINISH AT CEDAR LAKE

NEW RICHMOND, WISCONSIN (July 9, 2016) – There are only two good things following a tough night of racing like Jason and the JJR team experienced on Friday night: (1) every day is a new day and (2) things can only get better. It was this positive outlook that motivated Jason, Philip and Jeff as they worked their tails off all day Saturday to get the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Schoenfeld Headers #41 ready for Saturday night’s racing action at Cedar Lake Speedway.

The team was looking to regain their confidence as they pushed off fourth to take their two qualifying laps aboard the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/ISC Racers Tape Maxim. It did not take long to see if their hard work was going to pay off as Jason’s jumped on the loud pedal and wheeled his Maxim Racing machine around Cedar Lake’s 1/3-mile oval with his fastest lap coming in at 11.684 seconds. When the last of the 27 competitors took the checkered flag in time trials, Jason’s time would be third quick overall behind Brad Sweet and Rico Abreu.

Starting from the pole in the third heat, Jason and the JJR boys kept busting the butts to make sure he had the best car when the staging horn sounded. He would need it as he was sharing the front row with Donny Schatz with names like Daryn Pittman, Kerry Madsen, Paul McMahan, Shane Stewart, and Joey Saldana all readying for action behind him in this same heat race. Heck that is an all-star type lineup and it was just a heat race. The fans were in for a great show. This heat only would have been worth the price of admission. Not only were the drivers up in their seats, but so were the fans. When the green flag was displayed, Jason wasted little time jumping on the throttle and powering his way to the lead aboard his Fisher Body Shop/Country Custom Creations (CCC) #41 in front of Schatz. Schatz was relentless in his pursuit of the Louisiana-born speedster and Jason was running like the wind at the front of the pack with everyone giving chase. Jason would go on to collect the heat race victory ahead of Schatz, Pittman, Stewart and Saldana with Madsen rounding out the top six as he secured the last transfer position.

Earning a spot in his 20th Dash event of the 2016 season, a 37.04% Dash success rate, he would start from the outside of row two with David Gravel’s CJB #5 entry to his inside. Front row starters, Donny Schatz and Willie Croft, brought the six Dash participates to the green flag as it was Schatz showing the way around Cedar Lake to nobody’s surprise. He would lead from start-to-finish as he was followed across the finish line by Croft, Gravel, and Brad Sweet as Jason finished fifth ahead of Rico Abreu.

Knowing he would start on the inside of row three for the 35-lap feature, Philip and Jason discussed their strategy to keep the forty one at the front of the pack. The 8-minute horn sounded and Jason climbed into his Fibreworks Composites custom fitted seat. The hard work was put in and now it was his time to go for a high speed ride in his Jonestown KOA/Pro Powder Coating Maxim. After their traditional four-wide salute to the fans they sped off and realigned in their two-by-two starting order. Schatz jumped into the early lead and was mired in a fierce battle for position with Brad Sweet for the lead. Meanwhile, Jason was running hard in the top five as he battled Abreu and Gravel throughout the early going. After a few cautions interrupted the speed show, Schatz seized the top spot and Jason continued to battle with Sweet and Pittman as the three sensational drivers were vying for the show position. When Schatz took the checkers, Gravel followed him across the line as Pittman won the battle for the show position. Jason came home in the fourth spot as Sweet rounded out the top five. It was Jason’s 12th top five of the 2016 season, a 22.22% success rate in the ultra-competitive World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. After the race Jason paused and reflected, “Philip and this JJR team busted their butts all day today to give me a great car.” He continued, “I was fast all night and I really appreciate everything the team did to make sure this Priority Aviation machine was fast tonight.” The Louisiana-born racer concluded by stating, “It was really fun to be racing with the leaders for all 35 laps, as we were within striking distance all night.”
