A SOLID 13TH PLACE FINISH ON THE FIRST NIGHT OF RACING AT KNOXVILLE RACEWAY FOR THE JJR TEAM ABOARD THE FISCHER BODY SHOP #41 MAXIM

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 10, 2016) – There are a lot of things that are really good together, such as – Bees and Honey; Peanut Butter and Jelly; Cheech and Chong; Ham and Cheese; Batman and Robin; and, Macaroni and Cheese – just to name a few. But in racing, near the top of that list would be Sprint Cars and Knoxville Raceway. The best in the business filled the pit area at the Marion County Fairgrounds for the first of two nights of racing at the incredible facility with the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame perched over turn two. There were 42 formidable 410 sprint car teams ready to do battle at the famous half mile oval on Friday night under the early summer skies.

Aboard the Fischer Body Shop/Schoenfeld Headers #41, Jason pushed off 12th for his two single car laps in time trials. He stood on the right pedal and got his beautifully presented entry up to speed as he filled the air with the roar from his Kistler Engines music maker. When he charged under the flag stand after his first lap, he stopped the clock at 15.783 seconds. He kept the forty one rolling around the black clay oval and turned in a very consistent second lap at 15.873 seconds. His first lap was tenth quick in Flight A and tenth quick overall when the final car stopped the clock.

Starting from the fifth position in the second heat race, the Rocky Mount, Missouri resident would need to stand on the gas and make good laps as only five cars would transfer to the feature event. That would not be as easy as it sounds as the front row was comprised of David Gravel and Danny Lasoski with Kerry Madsen and Tim Kaeding in row two. Jason shared row three with Tasker Phillips in his #7W. When the green flag was unfurled, Jason went to work in the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/BMRS speed machine. Phillips would use the outside starting spot to steal the fifth position on the opening lap. Jason repositioned his Maxim Racing machine and set his line the second lap and regained the fifth and final transfer spot. He would not look back as he turned in eight very consistent and fast laps as he crossed the finish line in fifth following Gravel, Madsen, Lasoski and Kaeding to the finish line.

Advancing to his 39th A-Main of the year, a 92.86% success rate, he would have some work to do from his 19th starting position in the field. Not deterred, the Louisiana native climbed into his Fibreworks Composites seat, buckled his red Crow Enterprizes safety belts and slide into his Bell Racing helmet. It was time to get moving. Altoona, Iowa native Terry McCarl and Donny Schatz brought the field up to speed as they crossed underneath Doug Clark’s green flags. Jason immediately went to work a little further back in the running order and started his methodical march forward. One car her, one car there and before you knew it he was in the top fifteen. A red flag stopped the action on the track as Kerry Madsen, Bronson Maeschen, Brad Sweet and Brooke Tatnell were caught up in a melee on the front straightaway with Madsen and Maeschen getting upside down. When they restarted, McCarl would continue to lead as Jason moved up as high as twelfth before settling for a 13th place finish when the checkered flags waved. Terry McCarl took the victory over Schatz, Brian Brown, Dusty Zomer and Gravel. Jason was losing air in his Hoosier Racing Tire throughout the race. But, overall, a good first night of racing and learning for Jason and the JJR #41 team. The team will be back at it on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway.
