RAGIN’ CAJUN REBOUNDS ON SATURDAY NIGHT WITH A 6TH PLACE RUN IN THE #LETSRACETWO MOTHER OF ALL SPRINT CAR WEEKENDS AT ELDORA SPEEDWAY

ROSSBURG, OHIO (May 7, 2016) – What a difference a day made for Jason and the JJR team. After a challenging night of competition on Friday night where he used a provisional and finished 23rd, Jason and the JJR boys were determined to get their Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Winters Performance Products #41 Maxim back at the front of the pack against this formidable group of competitors. It was night two of racing action in the #LETSRACETWO Mother of All Sprint Car Weekends at Eldora Speedway and the place was filled with race cars and fans.

There were 40 WoO winged sprint cars ready to put on a show for the fans at the Ohio high-banked oval along with 28 USAC sprint cars. Jason pushed out 28th in the Country Custom Creations (CCC)/Waco Metal Maxim Racing machine to take his two high speed laps in time trials. He was looking to get all of the power from his Kistler Engine as he pedaled down on the accelerator inside his office. When he crossed under the flag stand the first time, he stopped the clock at 13.367 seconds. The Eunice, Louisiana-born speedster stayed on the gas and got even quicker the second time around with a lap of 13.278 seconds, which was third quick in qualifying flight two and 4th quick overall on the night.

Earning an outside front row starting position in heat race number three with always fast Joey Saldana sitting on the pole to his inside, you knew it was going to be an exciting race. Row two was comprised of Jamie Veal and Logan Schuchart so it was imperative for the Cajun Sensation to get a good start when the green flag was displayed. He did just that as he took off in the Priority Aviation #41 and led the field at speed into turn one. Saldana and Veal were giving chase, but the Cajun chauffeur would have none of it as he powered down the back straightaway by the Eldora Speedway USA painted on the wall for the very last time as he took the win ahead of Saldana, Veal, Schuchart as Greg Wilson rounded out the top five with each earning transfer spots to the A-Main.

Putting his entry into the Dash event for the 13th time in 2016, Jason was the recipient of good fortune when the zero inversion pill was drawn putting him on the front row of the Dash with fellow racer and friend Daryn Pittman. Pittman would jump into the early lead at the start as fourth starting Kerry Madsen used the top side of the track to his advantage to steal away the runner-up position with Jason securing the third spot in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Bell Racing Helmets #41. Pittman would lead all six laps crossing the finish line ahead of Madsen with Jason coming home in the show position as David Gravel, Joey Saldana, Shane Stewart, Donny Schatz and Trey Starks rounded out the Dash finishing order.

In the 30 lap A-Main, Jason would start on the low side in row two beside David Gravel. Kerry Madsen, in the Keneric Racing #29, would seize the lead when the green lights illuminated with Pittman and Jason close behind. Jason was holding down the show position in the field through the first half of the race. These sprint cars sure do get around this half mile oval and the front runners started to get into lapped traffic. As you would expect, traffic and speed – especially as fast as these race cars go – do not always mix too well. But these professionals make it look easy. Madsen was still leading with Pittman and Johnson giving chase, but Jason got caught in a traffic jam surrendering some positions late as he dropped back to fifth. Madsen would go on to take the win as he swept the weekend as he was followed under the checkers by Chad Kemenah, Pittman, Gravel and Stewart with Jason bringing home the Priority Aviation/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) Maxim home with a very respectable sixth place finish. It was Jason’s 17th top ten run in 2016, a 56.67% top ten success rate, which is a testament to all of their hard work and shows the determination and grit of the JJR team and driver.
