JASON AND THE JJR #41 TEAM CAP OFF SPRING SWING THROUGH THE WEST COAST WITH AN EIGHTH PLACE FINISH IN THE SO-CAL SHOWDOWN AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY

PERRIS, CALIFORNIA (April 16, 2016) – After a month and a half in The Golden State, California, Jason and the entire JJR team were at Perris Auto Speedway looking to close out the West Coast Spring Swing racing in the So-Cal Showdown. The history at Perris Auto Speedway, commonly referred to as The PAS, is tremendous and 21 competitive drivers lined the pits for a shot at the winner’s trophy.

For the second night in a row, the driver of the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Kenny’s Components #41 rolled out 14th to lay down his two time trial laps. He got up on the wheel the first time around and turned in a lap of 16.006 seconds. He followed that up with another consistent, but slightly slower, lap of 16.121 seconds. The quicker of his two laps was 10th quick overall.

When the heat race lineups were posted on the whiteboard, the #41 was scheduled to start fourth in the first and fastest heat race by qualifying times. Donny Schatz and David Gravel paced the field from the front row with Schatz gaining the upper hand at the start. Jason went to work inside the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine and was in a multiple car battle for the third position. When Schatz crossed under the checkered flag, he was followed by Jason Sides and Gravel, as Jason sped across the line in his Fischer Body Shop/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Maxim with a fourth place finish.

After the Dash, the feature lineup was set and the Rocky Mount, Missouri resident would start on the outside of row five for the 30-lap A-Main. Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) teammates, Brad Sweet and Daryn Pittman, powered the field to the green flag as Pittman seized the lead going into turn one. Jason was wheeling the Waco Metal/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 at speed and made his way up as high as seventh place early in the race. The track crew struggled to keep moisture in the track as the winds blew under the sunny skies earlier in the day, which resulted in the track starting to take on a lot of rubber. Jason continue to carry speed throughout the race, but was unable to gain any additional spots forward in the rubber down conditions. Pittman would go on to wire the field and take the win ahead of Sweet, Joey Saldana, and Shane Stewart with Donny Schatz rounding out the top five. Jason finished eighth, which was his 12th World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series top ten finish in 2016.

Jason and the JJR team had a very successful run through California, capturing a win and two top five finishes combined with and four additional top ten runs in the eight races they were able to get in while out on the West Coast. When the dust settled at Perris Auto Speedway, they closed the back gate of the trailer and headed southeast to Tucson, Arizona for Monday night’s racing action at USA Raceway. A great run through California for the forty one!
