THE CAJUN LAYS OUT ALL HIS CARDS IN THE FVP OUTLAW SHOWDOWN AT THE DIRT TRACK OF LAS VEGAS AND SECURES A TOP TEN FINISH IN SIN CITY ABOARD THE DISSOLVALLOY #41 MAXIM

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (March 4, 2016) – It was night two of the FVP Outlaw Showdown for Jason and the World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series stars at the big half mile in the desert called The Dirt Track at Las Vegas. With the mountains as a backdrop on this racing canvas, 36 cars were at the track with hopes making the 24 car A-Main and standing on top of the podium at the end of the night.

Joey Saldana kicked off time trials as he went out first for his two laps of qualifying. Unlike Thursday night, Jason and the JJR boys picked the highest number in the pill draw box, which meant Jason would be the very last car to go out to run his two laps of qualifying. As the cars made their way around the track, Jason moved up in the staging lane behind Donny Schatz patiently awaiting his turn to go out in the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/FK Rod Ends #41. His engine fired and he got up to speed in his Kistler Engines powered Maxim. After his first lap he was 25th overall with a lap time of 15.113 seconds. He stayed up on the increasingly tricky cushion on lap two and improved his time to 23rd quick overall with a lap of 15.101 seconds.

When the WoO officials posted the heat race lineups, Jason would find the #41 listed on the board in the third heat race where he would start from the outside of row three beside Brady Bacon. Brian Brown and Ian Madsen would be in row one with Terry McCarl and Austen Wheatley right behind in row two. There were eight laps and only five transfer positions available, so Jason knew he had to get the job done. He flipped the shield of his Bell Racing Helmet down and focused on doing what he does best – go fast and turn left in a 410 sprint car. Brown jumped out into the lead on the start as Jason used the outside starting position to his advantage as he set sail cruising through the middle of the track in turns on and two aboard the Priority Aviation Services/KSE Racing Products Maxim. As he exited turn two the racing action was tight with Austen Wheatley and others racing for position. Jason brushed up against the backstretch wall and did a 360 spin and kept rolling to bring out the caution flag. Tagging the rear of the field with a damaged right rear wheel and cover, he muscled his way forward when the green flag got them started again and he was digging on the bottom side of the track and gaining momentum. He was looking for a transfer spot and wasn’t going to be denied. He picked off one car at a time until he was again fighting for the final transfer position with Wheatley. Lap after lap they raced clean and hard with Jason on the inside and Wheatley on the outside. The Ragin’ Cajun would secure the transfer spot and advance to the A-Main as Brian Brown took the win over Madsen, and McCarl with Bacon coming home in the fourth position.

With the lights around the track illuminating the surface and the desert sky, the “big track” where NASCAR was also racing during the day on this busy motorsports weekend in Sin City, was also all lit up in the background of turns one and two. The grandstands were packed with eager racing fans and the drivers were ready to get after it. After the traditional four-wide salute to the fans, the drivers hustled back to their starting position in their side-by-side order. Jason and Paul McMahan made up row ten with the Louisiana-born native to the inside in the MSD Performance/www.racediecast.com #41 Maxim to start the feature event. Joey Saldana jumped into the early lead from his third starting position as Jason wasted little time making some moves early and often to get his forty one moving towards the front. He is a determined person, so overcoming adversity has become a strength. He quickly moved into the top fifteen with his sights set on more. At the front, Brad Sweet tracked down Saldana and took the lead on lap nine. Jason continued to take advantage of every opportunity in his Pro Powder Coating (PPC)/Wilwood Maxim. He was finding the fast way around this fast and racy track and it was paying dividends. Sweet surrender the lead late in the race to Schatz who would go on to take the victory over Saldana, Sweet and Brian Brown with Shane Stewart completing the top five. Jason charged home with a solid tenth place finish, his sixth one so far this season, to earn his second KSE Hard Charger Award of the year. Two good finishes in Sin City for the JJR team as they now head to Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona to get back at it on Sunday night!
