CAJUN’S HARD CHARGING RUN TO THE FRONT GET STOPPED IN LATE RACE INCIDENT AT LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY RESULTING IN A 21ST PLACE FINISH

LAWRENCEBURG, INDIANA (October 16, 2015) – After traveling in from their Rocky Mount, Missouri home base, Jason and the JJR team were eager to run around the banked turns at Lawrenceburg Speedway in the Pro Powder Coating (PPC)/Maxim Racing #41.

There were 35 cars signed into the pit area and each were waiting to push out for their two laps around the track during time trials. Jason pushed off third in the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Fischer Body Shop Maxim. His first time around he stopped the clock in 12.728 seconds. He stayed on the hammer turning a slightly slower second lap in 12.819 seconds. When the final qualifier crossed under the checkered flag, the Louisiana native’s time was 24th overall.

When the 10 lap heat race lineups were posted, he would share row three in heat race number four with Brady Bacon. Kory Crabtree and Logan Schuchart paced the field from the front row with Paul May and David Gravel following them in row two. When the green flag waved Schuchart took command of the front spot with everyone else giving chase. Jason was up on the wheel looking low and then moving high trying to secure one of the coveted five transfer positions in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) machine. With the low line filled with traffic he moved to the top and when entering turn three he got up over the cushion in a full speed slide as his rear nerf bar sent sparks flying and crushing his fuel tank. The Cajun Sensation stayed on the gas after losing two positions and fought his way back to finish fifth and earn a ticket directly into the A-Main. Exciting to say the least, but mission accomplished.

Starting deep in the A-Main field, from the 23rd starting spot, Jason and the team prepared their entry to make a run forward. When the green flag waved, he wasted little time starting his charge to the front. Shane Stewart was leading at the front of the field, but the forty one was putting on a show for the fans in attendance at Lawrenceburg Speedway. He cracked the top fifteen and was not content. He kept using the speed from his Kistler Engines power plant to move forward. Running in the eleventh position late in the race at top speed, Logan Schuchart lost an engine and slowed in the fast lane Jason was running, leaving no room and no time for the Cajun speedster as the two collided and spun collecting a few others. They pushed to the work area, but before the team could get any of the repairs completed the green flag waved again ending a great run for the driver of the forty one. Since the incident occurred after the half way point, the competitors are not given the two laps to make the repairs. Frustrated for sure, but not deterred, Jason and the team loaded up and will head home to prepare for next weekend’s competition at Port Royal and Weedsport.
