FORTY ONE TEAM TOUGHS OUT AN 18TH PLACE RUN IN PRELUDE TO THE IRONMAN AT FEDERATED AUTO PARTS RACEWAY AT I-55

PEVELY, MISSOURI (August 7, 2015) – Jason Johnson and the World of Outlaw (WoO) Sprint Car Series ventured to the “Show Me” state to race at Kenny Schrader’s Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in a two-day tough man endurance event. There were 30 cars up for the challenge on the first night as they prepared to compete in the Prelude to the Ironman on Friday night at the 1/3 mile, high banked clay oval in Pevely.

The Priority Aviation Services/Fischer Body Shop Maxim was ready to go and the Cajun chauffeur pushed off to take his two high speed laps around the track. The beautiful machine captivated the fans and the quicker of his two laps came in at 11.090 seconds, which was 16th quick overall when all was said and done in time trial qualifying.

Time trials is only the beginning of the battle at this racy oval. Everything is tough, so the next challenge was fighting your way it a qualifying transfer position to the prestigious feature event. Slated to start sixth in heat one, which is the fastest heat race by qualifying times, the Rocky Mount, Missouri driver climbed aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/K&N Filters #41 machine. Australians James McFadden and Jamie Veal made up row one with Joey Saldana and Donny Schatz in row two. Jason shared row three with Brad Sweet and when the green flag waved the powerful sound of sprint cars filled the air. Veal would lead McFadden and everyone settled in their running position. Ten laps seems to pass in a blink of an eye at this place and when the green flag was replaced with the checkered flag it was Veal earning the win in his 35AU followed by McFadden, Schatz, Saldana, and Sweet with Jason holding down the sixth and final coveted transfer position.

When the 35 lap A-Main lineup was posted, Jason and the Waco Metal/Hepfner Racing Products (HRP Racing) #41 Maxim was positioned on the outside of row eight in the sixteenth starting spot. Kerry Madsen and Jason Sides showed the field to the green flag as Jason pounded the loud pedal to call for all the ponies his Kistler Engines powered machine could deliver. He was using the top side of the track. There was a distinct top and bottom lane that was working. Madsen led the way for the first eight laps before surrendering the lead to Joey Saldana who showed the way through lap 22. Schatz tracked the leader down and they exchanged the top spot on laps 23 and 24 before the six-time WoO Champion locked the number one position down for good. Jason got caught up in a skirmish on lap 29 with James McFadden and Daryn Pittman, but restarted and finished in the 18th position when the black and white cloth flew and the engines calmed.

Jason and the JJR team will get back at it Saturday night at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in the second night of racing in the prestigious Ironman 55 event. Come out to the track and catch up with Jason and the team before they head west to Knoxville, Iowa.
