THE RAGIN’ CAJUN CHARGES TO A 14TH PLACE AT THE KNIGHT BEFORE THE KINGS ROYAL WITH 53 CARS LINED UP IN THE PIT AREA AT ELDORA SPEEDWAY

ROSSBURG, OHIO (July 17, 2015) – Rain blew through Rossburg, Ohio earlier in the day and put moisture in the surface and cooled the outside air temperatures considerably. The Eldora Speedway track crew artfully prepped the surface in preparation for the evening’s high speed adventure – The Knight Before the Kings Royal event.

The grandstands were packed full with eager fans. The pit area was stuffed with 53 sprint cars ready to race for the opportunity to pull up on the stage at the end of the night. Jason pulled a low number in the pill draw, which sent the Priority Aviation/Fischer Body Shop #41 Maxim our early in time trials. When he hit the track, he pounded the loud pedal and took off. His first of two laps came in at 13.455 seconds. He changed his line a little the next go around and improved his speed as he turned a lap of 13.409 seconds, which was twelfth quick in Flight 1.

Starting from the fourth starting spot, beside Tim Shaffer, in the Dissolvalloy/Momentum Racing Suspensions Maxim, the two drivers paced around the behind front row starters Jamie Veal and Caleb Helms. After the first restart was called back, the Ragin’ Cajun waited until they hit the white line in turn four and accelerated quickly using his Kistler power to take command of the third position in the 8 lap heat race. Veal was setting the pace with Shaffer and Johnson in pursuit. The three would cross the finish line in that order to own the three transfer spots up for grabs for the feature event.

Up until this point in the night the racing had been ‘Eldora Fast’ as each event flew by quickly. The racing surface had widened out throughout the night, but it was still awfully quick. For the 30 lap feature, Jason would roll into the 19th starting spot aboard his Maxim Racing machine. After the fireworks burst in the sky over the backstretch and the fire explosions ceased it was race time at Eldora Speedway. Pole sitter Shane Stewart took the early lead before the red flag flew for Sheldon Haudenschild in the first turn. Racing resumed and Stewart again took command up front as Jason used the bottom to make up some ground as he moved up two positions. As everyone else found the bottom, he moved the Waco Metal/Valvoline #41 up to the cushion and started to pound the cushion on entry. He found himself in the top fifteen after a late race caution and was hungry for more. He was in a fierce battle for position with Bryan Clausen and Steve Kinser for position. When the checkered flag flew over Stewart, Jason charged to a 14th place finish at the Knight Before the Kings Royal.
