VEAL MAKES THE BIG SHOW AT ATTICA RACEWAY PARK AND FINISHES TWENTY FIRST IN THE KISTLER ENGINES CLASSIC

ATTICA, OHIO (May 29, 2015) – On Friday night, the JJR team stayed in the Buckeye state with their driver Jamie Veal, substituting while Jason continues to recover from a back injury sustained in a racing accident in early April at Placerville Speedway, as 41 teams showed up at Attica Raceway Park for World of Outlaw (WoO) competition in the Kistler Engines Classic. Attica is a really cool place to see a race as the sprint cars get around the racy, 1/3 mile semi-banked oval in a fast way while blowing around turn two with the barn and silo in the background.

The Australian driver was the thirteenth driver to push off for time trials and his first lap in the Dissolvalloy/Momentum Racing Suspensions #41 Maxim was his quickest at 13.398 seconds. The second lap was a little slower at 13.449 seconds. As the balance of the drivers took to the track for their two laps of qualifying, turn two started to go away a little. When the last driver took the checkers, Veal’s quickest time was good enough for 25th overall on the night.

The 10-lap heat races lineups were posted with Jamie and the Fischer Body Shop/KSE Racing Products entry positioned in the first heat race in the seventh starting spot with Ohio native Craig Mintz to his outside. The front row of Cody Darrah and Dean Jacobs brought the field to the green and Jamie went to work from his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System. The racing action was fast and exciting, but it slowed on lap four when Nate Dussel’s #40DD spun and came to a stop on the racing surface. When the action got back up to speed, Darrah would go on to take the win with Veal holding his starting position and missing one of the coveted five transfer positions to the feature event.

The Last Chance Showdown was the next stop for the Warrnambool warrior and the JJR machine. There were only four transfer spots up for grabs and 14 eager drivers vying for them. It was not going to be easy. Polesitter Caleb Helms paced the field as Veal rolled around from the outside of row four in his eighth starting spot. When Helms saw the green he pedaled down on the accelerator and Veal did the same to get his MSD Performance/Kenny’s Component’s Maxim moving forward. Helms and Chad Kemenah got together in turn one on the first circuit bringing out the red. When racing resumed, Veal started to fly around Attica Raceway Park and after the twelfth and final lap he moved his mount into the fourth and last transfer position to advance to the 40-lap A-Main event.

The grandstands at Attica Raceway Park were absolutely packed with diehard sprint car fans. The fans in Ohio are terrific and serious about their sprint car racing. They were ready to see some exciting WoO action against some of their hometown heroes. Jason, Philip Dietz and Cole Freeser were hard at work trying to make last minute adjustments to their Maxim to get it ready for the 40-lap Kistler Engines Classic. Jamie pulled on his Shell Shock custom painted helmet and pushed off to take his position in the starting grid on the outside of row ten to start the feature event. All Star Circuit of Champion (ASCoC) regulars Cody Darrah and Dale Blaney made up the front row. Jamie shared row ten with CJB Motorsports wheelman Paul McMahan. When the engines were brought to life, they roared down the front straightaway and the action on the track was fast and furious. Darrah was leading with Blaney in tow as Jamie was wheeling the forty one a little further back in the pack. He stayed focused in the cockpit and was trying to make progress each and every lap, which proved to be very challenging. Back at the front of the pack, Blaney stole the lead from Darrah and led the remaining distance as Veal slipped back and finished in the 21st position. Certainly not the type of finish Jamie and the JJR team were hoping for, but they will keep digging and get back at it on Saturday night at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
