JOHNSON EARNS KSE HARD CHARGER AWARD FOR HIS EFFORTS AT SILVER DOLLAR SPEEDWAY AFTER ADVANCING SIXTEEN POSITIONS IN THE MINI GOLD CUP

CHICO, CALIFORNIA (March 28, 2015) – As the World of Outlaw (WoO) Sprint Car Series continued their West Coast swing they found themselves at the 1/4 mile oval they call Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California for the Mini Gold Cup. There were 44 racers ready to compete for one of the 24 prestigious starting spots in the feature field. Jason and the JJR crew continued to work hard throughout the week to ready the Waco Metal/Hepfner Racing Products (HRP Racing Products) #41 Maxim for the weekend of high speed action . . . Cali style.

After slinging some dirt in hot laps and turning some impressive lap times, Jason had to wait patiently to head out on the track for his qualifying laps. He pushed out 23rd and the quicker of his two laps was recorded at 12.880 seconds, which was only good enough for 34th quick overall. Jason and the Priority Aviation team had some work to do in their heat race to earn a qualifying spot, but this team is always up for an on track challenge.

Lining up in the ninth starting spot in heat two, Jason rolled around in the Fischer Body Shop/Wilwood Disc Brakes machine ready to get his elbows up. The goal was simple . . . to secure one of the five automatic transfer positions to the Mini Gold Cup feature event. When the green flag waved, front row starters Tanner Thorson and Paul McMahan powered the field into turn one. The Ragin’ Cajun was working hard and using his KSE Racing Products to steer his way forward. The racing action is tight, fast and furious around these quarter mile bull rings and the Louisiana speed chauffeur was up to the task. When McMahan crossed under the checkers for the heat race win, he was followed by Terry McCarl, Thorson, Jonathan Allard and the Cajun Sensation in the fifth and final qualifying spot. A terrific effort and result for the driver and team in the #41.

When the sweet sound of engines went silent following the last qualifying event on this beautiful California evening, the WoO officials went to work to finalize the 40-lap Mini Gold Cup feature event lineup. Based on his time trial result, the Cajun would find himself deep in the field starting from the 24th starting position in the Dissolvalloy Frac Ball Revolution/Schoenfeld Headers #41. The front row was comprised of Donny Schatz and California native Tim Kaeding. As the teams broke the four abreast salute to the fans parade lap and nestled back into their two-by-two starting spots, Jason pulled down one last time on his Crow Enterprizes safety restraint belts because it was time for some high speed action – World of Outlaw style. When the race went green, Jason went to work moving his forty one forward. A series of early race cautions gave him time to assess his progress and get ready to get back at it inside the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine. Schatz was in a battle for the top spot with Kerry Madsen as the Cajun Sensation kept his right foot planted on the accelerator making his way forward. Patiently picking his way up the scoring sheet, one car at a time, he raced his way into the top ten. When Schatz took the win ahead of Madsen and Thorson, Jason charged home with an 8th place finish to earn the KSE Racing Hard Charger Award for the night after advancing sixteen positions.

The JJR team’s hard work is starting to pay off as they recorded their third consecutive top ten finish in WoO competition. The Priority Aviation Services, LLC/JJR team will look to continue their consistency and top ten finishes as they head to Antioch Speedway on Sunday night to close out this weekend’s WoO racing action.
