THE FORTY ONE CHARGES TO A TOP FIFTEEN FINISH AT VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY PARK ON NIGHT #4 OF DIRTCAR NATIONALS

BARBERVILLE, FLORIDA (February 14, 2015) – It was back to work for Jason and the JJR team at Volusia Speedway Park on Valentine’s Day in the Priority Aviation Services, LLC #41 Maxim.

On this night, 31 cars entered to compete for the win against the World of Outlaws (WoO) in the 2015 edition of the DIRTcar Nationals. Volusia Speedway Park is a fast and demanding oval that is not forgiving if you are off even a little bit. In time trials you have two laps to give it your best shot. Jason went out seventeenth and rolled around on his first lap in 13.704 seconds. Not good enough, he kept his foot planted in his Schoenfeld Headers/K&N Filters speedster and improved his second lap with a time of 13.344 seconds, which put him in the top twelve at the time. But, when qualifying was completed his time was 19th quick overall.

The JJR crew went to work to prepare the Kistler Engines powered Maxim for the 8-lap heat race Where the Rocky Mount, Missouri resident would start from the fifth position. When the green flag waved over the field it quickly was replaced by the red when Sam Hafertepe, Jr. flipped after contact with Jason. When engines re-fired, Jason again lined up on the inside of row three for the start. When the ‘go fast’ lights came on again he got his Maxim up to speed and maintained the final transfer spot for a few laps until Dale Blaney made his way by to take the spot. Jason had his hands full when at speed as he sustained some damage to his axle in the earlier incident.

After missing the final transfer spot in his heat, Jason and the team changed the front axle and made some other changes to get ready for the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown where he would start third. The green flew and he made his way forward as he moved into the second spot and maintained that position for the balance of the race to advance to the 30-lap feature event.

The horns sounded in the pit area as Jason buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and pulled on his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet. When the field was set, he rolled around from his 19th starting spot. When the all Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) front row of Donny Schatz and Steve Kinser brought the field up to speed, it was chaos back through the pack as each driver was trying desperately to find a lane. Jason used the top side to build up his momentum around the superfast oval, but then dropped down to the inside jersey barrier wall in one in two to search for a faster way around. As the air flowed over his HRP Racing Shark wing, he moved back up to the topside and sailed around the cushion in turns three and four. Schatz went on to take the win as Jason fought back for a fifteenth place finish.
