THE 2015 WORLD OF OUTLAW (WoO) KICKS OFF AT VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY PARK WITH A TWELFTH PLACE FINISH FOR JOHNSON AND THE JJR CREW

BARBERVILLE, FLORIDA (February 13, 2015) – The 90 race World of Outlaw (WoO) 2015 season kicked off in style in cold and chilly Florida at Volusia Speedway Park. On night three of the DIRTcar Nationals, this night being the first of three sanctioned by the World of Outlaws, Jason and the JJR crew were ready to go after a long day of preparation away from the track.

There were 32 eager drivers and team checked into the pit area and all were ready to make the WoO season opener one to remember. When the pill draw to set the time trial order was completed, Jason held the highest number which meant he was going to be the last car out on the lightning quick track. When he pushed the beautifully prepared Waco Metal/Pro Powder Coating out of the pits his engine fired and he was at full speed when he took the green. After two very impressive laps, his lap of 12.948 seconds was eighth quick overall.

With four heat races scheduled, with the top five from each heading directly to the A-Main, Jason was slated to start third in the last heat race aboard the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/FK Rod Ends Maxim. Pole sitter Donny Schatz and fellow front row starter Sam Hafertepe, Jr. brought the field screaming down the front stretch. Jason settled into the fourth spot as the top five drivers moved to the top and were flying nose-to-tail. He held that position at the finish and advanced to the main event. Very good heat races run for the driver of the forty one.

The packed grandstands, who all were bundled up fighting off the cold in the air, were excited and ready for some WoO feature action. With his good time trial and qualifying effort, Jason found himself starting on the inside of row six from the eleventh starting position for the A-Main. Philip and Cole finished their preparation on the Jonestown KOA/Valvoline machine as they made their final changes on the car. The distance was 30 laps. The field was set with 24 of the best sprint car drivers in the country. It was race time. Pole sitter Greg Hodnett jumped into the early lead when the green lights illuminated around the track, but the field behind him were all crossed up as drivers were hitting the brakes as much as the gas. When the initial chaos came to order, Jason was shuffled backwards from his starting position but was working hard inside the cockpit from the comfort of his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System. He was working the high side and occasionally diving low on entry trying to steal some positions on the track. The Kistler powered Maxim was bad fast, but everyone on the track was flying too. When Daryn Pittman made his late pass for the lead on Donny Schatz for the win, Jason clawed his way back for a very respectable twelfth place finish aboard his Priority Aviation Services, LLC speed machine on night three of the DIRTcar Nationals.
