KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 9, 2014) – The points were accumulated. The lineups were set. Katie Davis sang a beautiful rendition of the Australian and American National Anthems. And, the 4-Time ACSC National Champion who hails from Eunice, Louisiana was slated to start on the outside of row four in the B-Main in the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/CURB Records #41 Maxim. It was race time.
There were 105 cars and drivers entered the 54th Annual FVP 410 Knoxville Nationals attempting to make the prestigious twenty five car A-Main field. No doubt about it – this is a tough deal, but every driver comes here with a dream. Only the cream rises to the top and making the B-Main for this event is in many ways as big, or bigger, than making the A-Main at any other track.
Twenty two laps was the distance. The track was moist and fast. The drivers were all eager and up on the wheel to do their best to try and secure one of the final four transfer positions into the feature event. When the green flag was shown, pole sitter Brooke Tatnell brought the entire field down the front stretch. Jason moved into the seventh position early and was racing for position when the first caution of the race was shown for Danny Dietrich rolled to a stop in turn four when he lost his right rear wheel and tire. When racing resumed, the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Jonestown KOA speed machine was on the move again. The speeds around this place are amazing and on the very next lap Sheldon Haudenschild and Brad Sweet made contact coming out of turn four with Haudenschild flipping wildly down the front straightaway. The red flag was displayed, and during the closed red conditions Jason sat on the back straightaway contemplating his next move under his Shell Shock custom painted Arai Helmet. He was still running in the seventh position and wanted to move forward. The green was re-displayed and he went to work. Running out of time he was moving forward, but was unable to advance on the leader board as he came home in the seventh position behind race winner Tatnell, Clint Garner, Brad Sweet, Lee Jacobs, Greg Hodnett, and Lucas Wolfe.
A very respectable showing at the biggest event of the year in sprint car racing for Jason and the entire Stenhouse Jr. Racing team!
