Jason Johnson has established himself as one of the most successful and competitive of the new generation of stars in the world of sprint car racing. In 2010, Jason and Bobbi Johnson captured the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Championship in their first year as team owners at Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) and continued their success during the 2011 season by winning a series leading six races and defending their owner's point title. Born in Eunice, Louisiana, the ‘Ragin Cajun’ or ‘The Cajun Sensation’ as he is known by race fans across the country has been refining his talents inside the cockpit since he was four (4) years old. He started piloting open cockpit cars in 1993. This experience has positioned him as a leading contender when he arrives in the pit area of every track across the United States and Australia. In 1998, Jason began traveling across the country competing in national garnering victories and podium finishes along the way in a variety of series to include the World of Outlaws (WoO), All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC), American Sprint Car Series (ASCS), World Series of Sprintcars (WSS), Pennsylvania Posse (PA Posse), and the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA). In 2000, Jason accomplished his lifelong dream of becoming a full-time, professional race car driver. Jason has captured victories in stock cars, mini sprints, outlaw winged modifieds, 360 sprint cars, and 410 sprint cars. He currently has over 180 career victories. In 2008, while racing the Shop Motorsports #41 of Lanny and Alan Row, Jason captured his first ASCS National Championship. He followed that up with a runner-up finish in 2009 and then recaptured the Lucas Oil ASCS National Championship title as a driver and team owner in 2010.
The 2010 racing season marked another milestone in Jason’s career. Jason and Bobbi Johnson along with their sponsorship partners, family, friends, and supporters launched Jason Johnson Racing (JJR). JJR is a successful motorsports operation based in Greenville, Texas. They plan on racing competitively with the Lucas Oil ASCS National tour and other sanctioning bodies across the country as their schedule allows. Jason, Bobbi, the JJR team, and their sponsorship partners look forward to continuing their championship ways as they focus on racing to the front in each event they enter and compete in throughout the season.
In 2011, Jason and the JJR #41 team captured their second straight ASCS National Series Owner's Points Title. After missing the first four races of the year as a driver, as he completed the WSS season in Australia winning the owner's point title for Alan Haynes, Jason and the team realized repeating in the driver's point title was out of reach, but focused their efforts on winning the owner's points. After starting the season with young hot shoes, Kyle Larson and Jack Dover in the seat of the JJR #41, Jason went on to record a series leading six victories in ASCS National competition and numerous top fives to finish seventh overall in the driver's points and lock down the owner's point title.
