MCCOOL JUNCTION, NEBRASKA (August 12, 2014) – Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team headed west out of Knoxville, Iowa in their hauler to race with the World of Outlaws (WoO) at Junction Motor Speedway. The skies were brilliant blue with a few puffy clouds floating around as the 19 cars in the pits took to the track for hot laps. The 4-Time ASCS National Tour champion was buckled into his Priority Aviation Services, LLC/Valvoline #41 Maxim as he prepared to head out onto the speedway for hot laps to shake his car down.
The next thing on the night’s racing agenda was time trials. Jason pulled the high numbered pill to set the order, meaning he would be the last car out on the track to lay down his time trial laps. The first circuit around the 3/8th mile oval took 13.931 seconds. Building up speed and momentum, he turned a better time on his second lap, even after hitting the rut, as he got around Junction Motor Speedway in 13.876 seconds, which was 11th quick overall.
When the heat race lineups were set, the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/K&N Filters speed machine would line up from the pole position with Jason Sides to his outside and quick timer Paul McMahan behind him alongside the 8-time Knoxville Nationals Champion Donny Schatz. With that type of competition around you there is no time to waste. It is gas and go time from the start for the Eunice, Louisiana native. When the green flag waved he took the lead, but Schatz was close behind. Schatz would seize the point position and cross the line with the heat race victory with Jason right behind in the runner-up position to advance to the feature event.
In Junction Motor Speedway’s final 30-lap Salute to the King feature event celebration, the cars went four-wide with the Priority Aviation Service, LLC/Oakley Maxim falling into line from his twelfth starting position. When the green flag dropped, he fell back a few spots in the forty one, but started working his way forward again one position at a time. Pole sitter, Paul McMahan, led the first 10 laps with Donny Schatz stalking him. Schatz caught him and took the lead on lap eleven and didn’t look back as he took the win ahead of McMahan and Kraig Kinser. Jason brought his car home with a twelfth place finish against the World of Outlaws.
